“Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
I wonder how you respond to poverty? I believe that there is great richness in choosing poverty. I don’t believe that having poverty forced upon you is ever right, in fact whenever see someone in that situation we should do all we can to fight the injustice of it.
But to choose poverty, to choose to live with less in a society that says “Have more!” “Live more comfortably.” actually, I think brings more freedom. By owning less we have less to worry about insuring or protecting.
I wonder if you began to choose to embrace poverty in certain areas of your life, what it would begin to look like?
