The night didn’t start well for our boys, by turning up late and no time to warm up we were straight out on to the pitch only to concede 3 goals in as many minutes. With lots of shouting from Vinny the cat Whitworth in goal St John’s finally got their act together and soon came back to take a 4-3 advantage. With some silky skills from Dan Wood we went 5-3 up but at half time the score was level again. With some strong words from the manager about shape and passion we lacked to win the game, we went out to do battle, and that’s exactly what happened, the game remained tight right throughout the second half which led to high tensions out on the pitch, which nearly ended with a red card for Ben Norton, but the ref could not be bothered to make a decision. With St John ’s firm resolve and only an exceptional display by the opposing goal keeper (who saved more shots with his face than he did with his hands), the score line was tighter than the St John’s marking scheme. Andy Bull Played a blinder on his début in defence and nicked a brace of goals, and with the late shot from Gaz ‘the gazzer’ Tracey St John’s took the lead, with only seconds to go. A final attack could not break down the St John’s defence and we walked away worthy winners.
